I do not have one and nor do think I ever will, though who knows. If the price of fuel goes up yet further I might have to eat my words. At present I use a gas cooker and oven to cook with.

we've used microwave for cooking, yet my mom is 80 5 and nevertheless cooks or perhaps only warms issues contained in the oven. it really is problematic to disclaim 60 years of habit. yet I"m no longer so stuck contained in the previous. imagine how a lot power you're saving through creating use of the microwave, in basic terms employing regulalr abode modern to cook dinner your nutrients in minutes, somewhat than practically an hour. only examine the circumstances on backs of frozen ingredients, and also you'll see how a lot power will be saved. Now, some sense that microwaving kills the nutrients, kills each and each of the nutrients. nicely, they are declaring that about ordinary cooking in ovens or on the range, too. the way i look at it, if microwaving kills each and each of the nutrients, then my 80 5 3 hundred and sixty 5 days previous mom must have died 20 years in the past, because it really is how lengthy she's been employing a microwave. those type of eldelry those who're residing into their ninety's, they use microwaves, possibly no longer to absolutely cook dinner a meal, yet a minimum of to warmth up frozen stuff or chilly stuff, so it ought to't be all that undesirable. yet all of it comes all the way down to usefulness for you. some places I lived, did not contain an oven, so relied upon microwave. only relies upon upon what you're gentle with.

A gas oven uses gas, a microwave uses electricity so where would you be saving money by changing from one to the other? Food cooked in a microwave can be okay but it will never replace cooking using a traditional cooker. Perhaps we should revert to having a real fire in the home and cooking on that.

I use my microwave for defrosting and reheating mostly. Defrosting is great, I have a really nice microwave that doesn't' cook the food that you're defrosting too much if at all. It really helps, because I never know what to make for dinner until I'm going to cook it, so I can just pop something in the micro to defrost and I'm cooking in no time. I do use the one in my office alot. I eat a lot of microwave lunches (lean cuisine), so I guess you can consider that cooking. As far as preparing most of a meal in the microwave, I don't think I would ever do that, not only does it make meats rubbery, veggies mushy and bread hard, it also depletes nutritional value.

If you don't use one now, you probably don't need to get one.

I use to use my microwave oven alot but it made the hydro bill too high when I was at an
apt. where hydro wasn't included in the rent.
I learned to minimize my use of the microwave oven by using a toaster oven to heat leftovers in and make small dishes. I still use my microwave oven if I want something really quick.
Too much use of microwave oven is also bad for you healthwise! The occasional use is okay though some people have toss there's out because they are far too sensitive for microwave cooked food! You can order small microwave oven for $88.74 thru www.dollardaysplus.biz

I have a microwave and a gas cooker/oven and I use both, although I don't like cooking so everything I make for myself is quick and easy. I use the microwave mostly for heating up things like tinned peas or tomatoes and very occasionally baked potatoes, although I FAR prefer those done in the oven! :)

Personally it's my electricity which is eating me out of house and home. My bills have gone up over 33% in the last 18 months!! I can hardly keep up. :(

Microwave is good for heating stuff fast but for cooking its a big No! No! as it heats faster and cooks slower. To cook oven or gas stove are the best, I personally prefer the oven coz it does not let the food loose its nutrients and can cook with low or no fat, which is good for health.

Sorry no... There is someting i'm not too crazy about when it comes to microwaves.

If you have to make sure the door is closed and that the door seal is not damaged to prevent radiation leakage (Stated in the instruction manual) then does that mean that apart from the food being vibrated incredibly quickly to produce heat that it is also absorbing micro-radiation?

Use Gas / Coal / Stove at the end of the day it's more controllable, you can see what is happening, you can control what is happening (ie.stir it!) and you don't singe the skin of your lips when you foget it's the temperature of the sun in the middle!

What I like to do is cook vegetables in mine. I take some brocolli and a couple of carrots (but you can use more or less what you like) - chop them up, then put inside a microwave bag then just cook on high for approx 5 mins, depending on the power of the microwave. Its quick, tasty, and best of all, no saucepans to wash up

I like to use my toaster oven, I have a gas stove that takes WAY longer to heat up AND cook. I do like the microwave too. but I like the fresh crisp taste that the microwave does not give.
