To "You Love Me" - Most people don`t do research, at least not their own. They have their mind set before they even post a question and won`t accept the correct answer or truth when it is handed to them on a silver platter. Moronic questions deserve a "pop between the eyes" answer because the person is too freakin` lazy to find out for themselves. One of the best questions I`ve ever seen was from a young man who had been researching APBT`s for over a year and here he was, still asking legitmate questions about the dogs. I saw him on another website and he was still plugging away asking solid questions. He was attending weight pulls, shows, talking to reputable breeders and reading from Diane Jessup to Richard Stratton. Now that is research to be commended !! I can`t speak with certainty about most breeds of dogs but a very high percentage of people obtain an APBT and can barely tell which end eats and which end sh@ts. It seems as though they all live in my vicinity. I have heard just about every answer as to why people choose a certain dog breed and it usually boils down to sheer stupidty but aside from that....
..... lack of knowledge, status symbol, because Paris or Nicole has one ( lmao) ,show the kids some resposibility( the newness of a pup turns to neglect as it grows older), watchdog ( "Killer" watches as the thief loads up the plasma tv and computer, no more Yahoo answers for them because they did`nt listen to us.) I believe that some of these people look at the dog as an object or just another possession rather than an animal that needs their full commitment in all aspects of it`s life. We owners hold the dog`s life and happiness in our hands every day.

Crownpc - "Breed only matters if you are looking for a special one. Otherwise a dog is a dog"
This total lack of knowledge is the problem, this statement is so not true. Breed SHOULD matter to pet owners. If people put more thought into it, maybe there wouldn't be so many people giving up their dogs because their Beagle is hard to train, their Sheltie is nipping heels, their Terrier is digging, etc.
But no, they just say, "ooohh, THAT ones cute".
Don't think that the laziness and stupidity is only about dogs either. Your average American citizen is much to busy shopping for the latest stupid gadget to spend any time actually thinking, but don't worry, our government is more than willing to step in and just tell us what to think.

You have a point, but I do my research before I get a pet, then I search the pet-finder site to see who has what I want. Not everybody is irresponsible.
I guess they have to learn the hard way at the dog's expense, that not all animals are going to sit pretty like a stuffed animal would. Not all dogs will go fetch your beer and run after a Frisbee either. Sometimes they poop on your new carpet and chase the mailman, that is why the pound is so full all the time.

Most "pleasure" buying is done on impulse. That will never change.
It's when people have a reason for having a dog that they will put a little time into the choice. Supplying that reason is our job as a breeder.
If you check the web page below you might notice that not a single puppy went to the general public, they all went to people that had a reason for wanting one. (they were also all spoken for before the breeding ever took place)

Jealous much?
Alot of people do research and your generalization makes you as ignorant as those who dont!
I have read some of your other posts to questions... and you sound like a pathetic heratic who is just trying to stir up trouble... and just because it is a mixed breed doesnt mean it is a "junk" dog! They can be just as loving and affectionate! I support my local shelter!
Get a life... Internet junkie nerd!
I totally agree with the guy who is talking about people who cant afford a vet... too many times people do not realize that a dog is an on-going cost! Like a child!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean really would you have a kid and then just let it sit in a cage and "hope" that a home remedy worked! All for the vets budddy! My father in law is a vet and I'll tell you what... he wishes people would just give their dog the care when they need it, it would save them alot of money in the long run! As well as alot of dogs from suffering!

I find this to be true with most pets. There's a bird store I frequent, and it amazes me to see how people choose their bird because of its color, size or ability to talk rather than on the character of the bird. Shortly after their purchase, they cry "it's to loud", "it feather picks", "it's not what I expected"! How do you knopw what to expect from a dog, cat, bird or other pet unless you do some real good research. Remember how many dalmations were bought after the movie "101 Dalmations"? What a shame.

I think it has to do with the popular breed....especially in that area...I see things go in spurts...like for a while around here all you say were boxer pups for sale, and then Golden Retrieves...and now its yellow labs...everyone wants yellow labs...Dogs are not just dogs....different breeds have different needs and temperments, activity levels, and several other things....People have to look at their lifestyle and then choose a breed that fits that life style....you can't pick a dog and try to force them to fit you life....People need to look into breeds and the histories and find one that fits.....

When you first meet a dog you get the impression that either you will or you won't get along. The animal's character plays the biggest roll. Breed only matters if you are looking for a special one. Otherwise a dog is a dog, if what you want is just a dog. Little or no thought needs to go into it. Price also is a barrier, but not if you just want a mutt.

well......you already answered the question. People can't or won't get past "I want" the do not give enough thought to the dog and it's needs..........or the expense. "oh......my dog is sick/hurt/dying/bleeding/broken bones. What is a home remedy, i can't afford a vet" sheesh!
