It is sincerely to be wished that people stopped repeating the vicious nonsense spouted by the Murdoch press.
Stop blaming immigrants/foreigners of all kind for the bad things in your society.
I am a pro-European and still I agree that the administration of Europe and European law has to be much more democratic and devolved in future, and so say most of us.
But Europe has nothing to do with home made problems like a lack of understanding between different cultures.
By excluding the people that look/worship differently from mainstream society we invite their anger and resentment, then we complain that they don't want to integrate.

There was a referendum on whether to join the European Union - you probably weren't born then and wouldn't have been eligible as an illiterate to vote in it anyway. The European Convention on Human Rights when properly enforced by a Human Rights Commission in the UK will benefit us all. We do a lot of trade with other European countries. We have 200,000 French people living in London because they speak the language and help us trade with France. It is wrong that Human Rights law has so far only tended to benefit criminals and terrorists who get legal aid and not the disabled and elderly who do not - hopefully the new commission will change that. In the meantime, there are adult education classes that you can attend to learn literacy - I wish you luck. In the meantime, until you can voice your opinions by emailing those unelected bureaucrats - we will just have to put up with them!

Unfortunately, 'James T Clerk' is correct in that we did have a referendum, this is why we are in!
Always bear that in mind, and make sure your vote counts in the future!
I can remember the start up of the high street supermarkets, wonderful, all prices were going to drop, then for some reason all the opposing supermarkets seemed to stabilise their prices, but never mind, along came the hypermarkets, prices all dropped again, but not for long, they have now 'stabilised!!
And now we have the common market, we can go to all the common market countries and work, and they can all come here and work, except for the little fact that there is no work!!
But at least really important issues have been resolved, we have agreed that bananas must in future be straight!

Wait and see. The Baltic states had a revolution where all unwanted people were thrown out. This country needs a good knock on the head for opening the floodgates to the EU.

Actually we did vote to join the EU. It was decided by a referendum in 1973.

The EU is far from perfect but we'd be a lot worse off if we left - why do you think Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Serbia and Turkey are all so keen to join?

Every Four to Five years. If we vote the wrong people in that's our mistake. Vote for a party that stands up for British values and not European dogma. I have a sad view of the future of the UK when the last few remaining Brits rise up against our Muslim Prime Minister and a bloodbath ends the UK as it was. I hope not but until we realise that our multi cultural free open door immigration is hurting us we will be heading over the precipice. All who want to live here whatever Culture or Religion they must abide by our culture and way of life.

I think I will stop voting altogether, unless a political party promise to shut the country's gates once and for all ! Then they'll get my vote. We need to sort out the needs of the people here already, never mind letting in any more.

The liberals speak louder than we do.. Even though they are trying to give our country away, we all sit back and wait for some else to stop them. I don't understand their thinking. They want to give everyone what we as a nation have. Do they not understand why our forefathers fought wars, it was to stop the things that are happening in this country right now. No one has the right to come here and dictate what we should do for them. Not even try to speak our language and demand that we speak theirs. Until we stand collectively as a nation and stop this, we will never have our rights. Those who think that we owe the whole world, do not live in reality. The more we help the more they hate us. We need to look after our own. In my humble option its not the Europeans we need to worry about. The professional politician is our problem. Those who are so afraid of not getting elected they would give this country to anyone............

The EU is emblematic the antithesis of democracy. Made all the more alarming when we look at how the European Council is "elected" in a almost hereditary method. Well said, a great question.
