It is difficult to say without knowing, firstly what time you are travelling, peak hour could mean either morning or evening rush hour. In general there is more traffic going INTO central London in the morning and more coming OUT of central London in the evening.
If also depends where abouts in central London you are. The time could vary between 1 hour and 2.5-3 hours depending on whether you have to go through hot spot such as Piccadilly, Covent Garden etc.
If you are relatively close to the M4, the journey won't be too bad. From the 'start' of the M4/A4 (I essentially define it as Earls Court) to Heathrow would probably be about 40min to an hour with the traffic fairly busy (i.e. evening rush hour)
However as previous answers have said parking etc would increase the time, so definitely allow yourself more time (possible even an hour more) then is necessary. The problem with coming out of Central London, is that there aren't really any short cuts or quieter roads you can take to avoid the traffic, so if you get stuck and you're late, there isn't anything you can do.

I would go with the general consensus of circa 2 hours as a default “safe” benchmark to get to Heathrow on time. This should get you there in time 90 – 95% of the time.
However variables can be significant, so I would check things like traffic reports and airport news ahead of time i.e. 3 hours. There are still no guarantees, using an alternative method such as train may be a bit more reliable with timing.
A useful link to some of the traffic / travel information sources can be found below…
Hope this helps...

That's a bit of a "how long is a piece of string" type question.
I would definitely allow two hours to get from the centre to the airport and then add extra time for parking if you are flying. If you are meeting someone then 2 hours will be fine and possibly less as it will probably take passengers at least half an hour to get through passport control and get their baggage.
Remember that if you need Terminal 4 you get to that on the A30, Great South West Road as opposed to Terminals 1,2 and 3 which are in the centre of the main airport off of the A4/M4

If you are in right direction and positive mind set you will be there in the Airport within 100 minutes. If both are upset you may reach there in 200 to 250 minutes!!!
OK! Why can't you try youself and find a solution for your doubt? It is not a question, I feel it is a doubt!!!

i would say if someones flight was at 6 you would need to get out of house at 3. This sounds reasonable to me at peak time. Doesn`t matter if your early you could get a coffee or something. Better early than late.

i would have thought a good hour. Then you've got to park, which can take forever. You 'd probably be faster taking the Tube if you can.
