In danger--sorry for the world.

Not because of the athiest (him/herself), but because a denial of God lets the angel Satan have a greater hold--and with all that "power" in the presidency...

Church? State? Separation? All enshrined in the Constitution?

I am frankly dismayed by some of the responses I've read. As Martin Luther King Jr. once said, a man (or woman, given our times) should be judged by the content of his/her character not by the color of his/her skin. Given the various and many religions that are practiced in the United States, shouldn't the job of running the country, let alone the influence that the U.S. has on international politics, be in the hands of the person most capable? What does religion have to do with the capacity to govern and govern well?

It would be great! After Bush, and his ''holier that thou art'' attitude, and his cramming his radical Christianity down our throats. it would be a blessing.

Bush is not only trying to rule America with his ''born again'' concept, he wants to push it on all the world. Why does he think the whole world should have our form of government and his form of religion? It will take decades to undo what he has done.

I would never knowingly vote for an atheist and if one were ever elected, which I seriously doubt, I would be very uncomfortable with it. I want the person who is leading our nation to be a firm believer in the sovereignty of Almighty God and to live a Christian life. Anything less would cause me to have great concern for our country's future.

I do not really care about what his or her beliefs would become, so long as that person strengthens the country and crafts and executes policies that will be advantageous for all its citizens then fine I'd vote for him.

If a fair-minded, caring and intelligent atheist or agnostic were elected President, I would rejoice. I might even start believing in America again.

I would feel like he didn't represent a majority of Americans but that doesn't necessarily mean he'd do a really bad job. I just hope he wouldn't push an atheistic agenda through during his term in the white house as that is a minority agenda and doesn't represent what the majority of Americans are about.

I'd feel that we have someone that we might finally be able to trust and I wouldn't have to worry about a theocracy seizing power for at least four years.

An Atheist would have no power to rule except that power be given to him from above, God often will use un-believers to consumate His redemptive plan for mankind.

Jhn 19:11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power [at all] against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.

I'd vote for an atheist long before I voted for a Christian who used his faith in his campaign.
