Hey, that's a great idea! We could gather together all of us atheists who hate god and only come here because we're hoping the Christians will convert us, and put together a religion, call it "Secular Humanism", and teach children that human beings have all the answers.
Then we can get a bunch of political power, and use it to purge America of any mention of "God". Since we'd be secular humanists and not believe in God, we wouldn't have to follow any morals, so we could all have sex with as many women as we want all the time, and we could make gay marriage legal, so people couldn't have those annoying children anymore.
I'm in!

That would be far too rational. Plus, it would require a degree of personal responsibility, compassion, open mindedness and willingness to live with differences and uncertainty than many folks are not willing or able to embrace. Many would much prefer the promise of the protection and the certainty of more traditional illusions (in the Buddhist sense of the word).
But, I'm afraid that Rational Humanism might not achieve peace, love, and harmony either. I don't know what will work. Clearly religion has achieved a lot in the way of civilizing humanity ... but not nearly enough. I honestly suspect that we may need to transcend our current biological level of humanness. We may need to become a new sub-species of human. One that is able to tolerate racial and cultural differences and resolve major international conflicts through discussion and negotiation. Some scientists think there have already been several such quantum leaps in humanity's relatively recent past. I may be wrong on my chronology, but some anthropologists think modern humans who looked essentially like us anatomically “suddenly” started to use a real language about 50,000 years ago and group together in large tribes. Just as “suddenly” about 20,000 years ago humans started to settle in very large communities and plant crops. This last change required a level of trust and cooperation between humans that just was not there before. No one knows exactly why but they think it might be another example Darwinian evolution acting on the brain. These humans did not look any different anatomically from their predecessors but there was a major change somewhere inside the brain. We may now need a similar kind of change. If Darwin was right about having to fit in order to survive we will eventually make that change. Because if we don't, this whole conversation will be completely academic and there won’t be any of “us” around to experience that change and ask or answer these kinds of questions.

real. a million John 4 20 If somebody says, “i admire God,” yet hates a Christian brother or sister,[c] that individual is a liar; for if we don’t love human beings we are able to work out, how do we adore God, whom we won't be able to see? 21 And he has given us this command: people who love God could additionally love their Christian brothers and sisters.[d] Romans 14 a million settle for different believers who're susceptible in faith, and don’t argue with them approximately what they think of is acceptable or incorrect. 10 So why do you condemn yet another believer[a]? Why do you seem down on yet another believer? remember, we can all stand in the previous the judgment seat of God. 13 So enable’s quit condemning one yet another. decide for as a replace to stay in the variety of vogue which you will no longer reason yet another believer to stumble and fall.

the big H? can Y!Answers be the (new) tower of Babel to reach 'god'?
I think people made up beliefs to reduce the power of humanity and demonize our efforts to work together
the big sin was to make a name for ourself
so god said...let US go down (Like James Brown..huh!) note the plurality, just like creation story of let US make man in Our image
far from 'one' god it is rather One humanity
And the Lord descended to see the city and the tower that the sons of man had built. 6 And The LORD said, "Lo! [they are] one people, and they all have one language, and this is what they have commenced to do. Now, will it not be withheld from them, all that they have planned to do? 7 Come, let us descend and confuse their language, so that one will not understand the language of his companion". 8 And the Lord scattered them from there upon the face of the entire earth, and they ceased building the city

proof of the existence of God is needed today: to counteract the false ideas of secular humanism prevalent in the media and schools that say we should put our “faith” (blind belief) in human knowledge and the changeable, sometimes flawed theories of science, psychology and the mainstream culture of “political correctness” as the ultimate truths and way to approach life (while at the same time inferring that putting our “faith” in God, the Bible and the Church is somehow outdated, naive and uneducated). But a look at the social statistics of the U.S. in the past century will show that when people were putting their “faith” in God – individuals, families and society were more harmonious, peaceful, happy and safe.
