i have been browsing for some ideas for dinner and went to www.goveg.com, when I took a link to this
http://www.kentuckyfriedcruelty.com/
and I just cant belive that so many people still dont give a fcuk. its not just the health of the animal, its yours too if you consider what it was fed etc
What does everyone else think?
please be totally honest, i want to know why your a meat eater and how you justify that.
(please assure that i am not trying "convert" you, i just think that if people want to eat meat then shouldnt they care how the animal was treated and cared for first, after all, they have thoughts and feelings too, or maybe i'm missing something?)
check this one out too

"will I eat cow and other meets that go to slaughter yes. Do I agree with it no. " Then it's time to take the next steps and no longer go against your values in exchange for pleasure.
"and i didnt look at your link...cos i dont wanna know whats on the end of it!" Then you are a coward and a hypocrite. If you don't know where it's coming from, then you shouldn't eat it. Ignoring the problem doesn't make it ok.
"We are part of nature.
Animals eat each other.in nature.
We eat some.
Some eat us.
It's part of God's plan if you believe in God.
Even if you're an atheist you can't deny that nature exists and you are part of it.
What's your opinion on sex? Should we ban it? " Your response has no logic or basis in reality. Yes, we are part of nature. If you believe that we are still "natural" then raise your meat yourself and kill it personally. Having factory farms is not natural and certainly not "God's Plan". Unless I missed the animal torture and cruelty in the Garden of Eden. Are you sure that this type of consumption and lack of concern over torture of "god's creatures" is what jesus would want? I think not and it's cowardly, it's massive denial, and it shows a complete lack of understanding of the issue to formulate a response like this. You only convince yourself, not those who actually *understand* the issue and take the time to gain knowledge.
"more fish than meat." Don't forget that fish *is* meat. And when you eat fish, you are also responsible for the by-catch of the industry. This means dolphins, sea turtles, unwanted fish, manatees, etc. They are all frequently killed and maimed so that humans can consume fish and other seafoods.
"We are the top of the food chain " We are actually not part of the food chain. Most of what we take in is not part of the natural food chain. Animals grown on farms are not part of the food chain. They are a separate 'chain' that produces animals for human pleasure. "and it is bred into us to enjoy the tast of meat" Really? And you learn this in your evolution classes? Because what I learned was that we rarely ate meat. We instead relied on the gathering part of hunting/gathering. Humans and their evolutionary ancestors only got to eat meat once a month or so. We develop a taste for meat because it's fed to us at a young age and we are brainwashed into thinking it's good for us. "also on a physiological level we just do not feel as sated with a carrot as we do with a chunk of succulent roast chicken " YOU may not feel filled by a carrot, but this is completely your choice and how you choose to live. It's not necessary to consume animal flesh. You CHOOSE to do it. Your argument is 100% fallacious on all points.
"tell me one good reason why i should justify myself to you ?" Nothing said you have to, but your defensive answer. . . The lady doth protest too much.
In short, we've become such an "id" society that we want what we want and we don't care about how we get it. Whether it's right or wrong to consume animal flesh is up to the individual, but hiding from the information so that it won't shade your views is simply cowardly. If you can't watch a cow with it's throat torn out, if you can't watch a chicken being boiled alive, if you can't watch a dolphin caught in a tuna line, then you shouldn't be eating it. We are all responsible for our actions and the actions taken in our name. Is an animal life, a life that may be equal to your dog or cat, worth the 15 minutes of pleasure that you get when you eat it? After all, our body certainly doesn't *need* meat, so therefore we kill simply for pleasure. Just something to ponder.

I have a question for you. Do you actually look at the materials in your cloths and shoes? If you do then sure I can understand where your coming from; but to be honest with you most persons who don't eat meat don't pay attention to their cloth etc... Do I feel there should be a more humane way to slaughter for mass consumption. I prefer fishing and hunting because then at least your protecting the environment via keep a check of deer population, goose, etc... Reason being because people build so much that one house totally messes up the animal population with in a mile radius so most endangered species are caused by lack of habitat. Like in Ohio there is no longer enough natural predator's to keep the deer population under control so hunting is a need and it just happens to feed it's people. will I eat cow and other meets that go to slaughter yes. Do I agree with it no.

Hi Kerry,
I was a vegetarian for ten years, but now I do eat some meat (sometimes). I totally agree with you, Just because an animal has been grown for food and will eventually be killed is not a free pass to mame injure abuse mistreat or cause suffering to it. It should be well looked after and cared for while they are alive and the "slautering act' should be as quick and as ethical toward the animal as possible, anything else is just wrong :-)

I was on vacation once and we passed a cattle farm...I stopped to take a look and saw all these beautiful bulls walking towards me. I got scared as they stared at me strangely...I saw a sort of sad look on their faces and I figured it was a meat farm...they were bred for their meat because there were only male cows! I was so upset after figuring out the farm slaughtered the animals not so far from where they grazed. I can't bear eating meat after seeing those poor animals that knew how dreadfully their life was going to end.
I feel like crying for those poor chickens that suffered all that pain just to be fried in batter. I never bought from KFC and will never buy from them again.

Maybe the answer is for more people to try mycoprotein products, such as Quorn. Some of it, when done with a delicious sauce, is indistinguishable from, for example, chicken or pork. In fact, I bet a lot of people who order certain dishes in restaurants eat mycoprotein without knowing.
And you don't have to feel guilty about eating what is, after all, a sort of 'micro-mushroom'!

i totally agree with you but i don't think people like to think about it. in Vancouver there is a chicken processing plant in the east side and they leave the back door open. you can see the chickens ,upside down on conveyor belt going through to be slaughtered. i don't like like it and the smell is awful. we should be a lot more responsible and i would love to have an alternative to meat . not tofu though . i can only handle so much of that

i'm a meat eater but I'm starting to think that it's time we all started buying meat that's locally and organically reared and that has the freedom to roam. Apart from ethical considerations it would help provide employment for local businesses instead of the big corporations.
