Hey bustedbyt...,

Being a Genealogy question, my answer is that you should respect your ancestors. You do not have to believe their doctrine, but you should respect their beliefs. If I don't agree with someones beliefs, you may call that scoffing, but at least I am honest with them to their face that I will agree to disagree.

It does bother me when people scoff at historic perspectives. Our ancestors did not have the value of the scientific body of knowledge we have today. So, rather than scoff, if anyone that does that would try to understand the position their ancestors were in, they would then gain an understanding of the beliefs.

I admit, some of the beliefs are humorous to me! Knowing that and intellectualizing that I can over come my scoffing, and gain an appreciation for some strange customs/beliefs.

Most people don't care about the past enough to try to emulate with the ancients. Hope that helps answer your question.

There are enough people who are still alive that I can scoff at. Like you for such a stupid question.
Jehova's witnesses and Mormons that go door to door need to be scoffed at.
Does it bother you that no one will scoff you when you're long gone?
