My 9 moth old rotti/hound mix usually eats everything, even table food. He also will eat toys and other objects, if I don't catch him in time. He did not eat last night and he seems to be very sleepy, not active at usual. His stomach sounds gurgly. He hasn't pooped either, today. What can do for him, or do I have to take him to the expensive vet?

ok, I got all your responses, first of all to some of you, I will never abuse my dog like that, I take great of my dogs, I can't believe some of you who responded said what you said abt me being cruel to my animals. This is the first time this situation happened. I was looking for some friendly advice, not hurtful remarks. I am taking him to vet today...

yes he needs to be taken to the vet, obviously something is not right as he is very sleepy and not eating or pooping and his stomach is making noises which could mean he has a stomach upset or has eaten something that is not good for him. take him to the vets and see if they will allow you to make payments if it is financially stressful for you. either way, the dog should be looked at. good luck. I hope he feels better soon.

Sounds like he may have worms, my dog has gurgly tummy from time to time and a good strong worming tablet usually does the trick, however all dogs are different and you should really get him checked by the vet, if you cant afford it don't worry most vets will come to an arrangement for payment, but then you should have considered the cost of medical treatment before you got the dog. I have three dogs and I would sell my home rather than see them suffer

Glad to hear you are taking him to the vet. Sounds like me might have swallowed something he shouldn't have. Also the vet told me that lamb and rice is the best type of food for a dog. I have a chinese pug.

It's just the stomach working on food, doing it's regular thing.. Take a stethoscope and listen, you can hear all sorts of sounds... Our stomach does it too, we just don't normally hear all those noises til they get really loud when we are hungry.

When my dog gets a gurgly stomach, she usually goes outside and eats a ton of grass then vomits up the problem. Let him graze for a while to see if this helps. If he has eaten a toy or something he may have a blockage. Try the grass first.

sounds like he may have eaten something that he shouldn't have and it may be blocking his tummy take the poor thing to the vet, and in future don't put a price on your dogs health it shouldn't matter how much it costs if you love your animal

You probably need to call a vet. They will give you advice over the phone, but they will probably want to examine your dog.

Definitly go to the vet and do not try anything yourself....the dogs stomach might have flipped or it might have a knot in it
