Not a bad thing.... as we are all used to stay without food for at least 10 to 12 hours when we go to bed, and eat during the day.
Whilst fasting, Muslims do not eat during the day, but feast at night after the moon is out as well as in the morning. So during Ramadan, food are still being consumed but at different hours. Where it may be bad, is when the body is active during the day and run short of fuel, which may lead to dizziness at most.
Physiologically, some people may lose weight during this period, as they may not be consuming the usual amount of food as in day time, and it also allows the metabolism to rest.

Fasting is required from all followers of all religions including Christianity and Judia, also Hindu and others do fast.
Fasting is an excellent method to clean your colons off excessive burn of rubbish that body can not get rid of.
It gives body time to rest a little and regain its natural functions.
Fasting has also spiritual function such as feeling how hungry people feel and donate some of what you eat to them.
Thinking of food all daylong pulls man away from his spirit. It is said the lighter you are, the faster you fly ( into paradise )

In Islam, fasting starting from fajr (dawn), until maghrib (sunset) is observed during the month of Ramadan. Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the Pillars of Islam, and thus one of the most important acts of Islamic worship. By fasting, whether during Ramadan or other times a Muslim draws closer to his Lord by abandoning the things he/she enjoys, such as food and drink. This makes the sincerity of his/her faith and his/her devotion to God (Arabic:Allah) all the more evident. The believer knows that God will love him/her when he/she is ready to abandon worldly comforts for God's sake.
Fasting helps prevent many sins and is a shield with which the Muslim protects him/herself from jahannam (hell).
Muslims believe that fasting is more than abstaining from food and drink. It also means to abstain from any falsehood in speech and action, from any ignorant and indecent speech, and from arguing and fighting, and sexual intercourse. Therefore, fasting helps to develop good behavior.
Medically; fasting helps purify the body of waste with no side affects. However if you are diabetic it may be aggravated if the propper amounts are not consumed before the fast.

Ramadan is good for our immune system, many doctors have proven this. Also the growing number of obese is due to the additives, hormones, colours, flavours, etc added to the foods we eat. Even the "fresh" fruit we eat have some sort of an additive added to it. That's why.
I hope ALL Muslims have a Mubarak Ramadan...

Fasting cleans the soul, as well as the body.
Many religions fast. There are, I believe, 7 Jewish fasting days. The one most know about is Yom Kippur.
Fasting can bring the spirit closer to G-d. It gives a chance to reflect on the world, G-d, and complete surrendering to him. There is a good feeling, spending the day with the community, who you know all are doing this together.

When fasting, a Muslim takes no food or water from sunup till sundown. After the sun sets, it's party time. Fasting of this sort is probably not injurious to heath.

Eating in moderation is always healthy. Fasting, however, during a religious holyday has more to do with spirit than health.
