for the smell you need to use a alcohol base liquid (try nature's miracle) and soak it all the way down to the padding under the carpet. this may take a week or more to dry. i suggest taping off the area to avoid stepping in it. the smell will go away as it drys completely. for the stain i love woolite carpet foam cleaner it takes out stains great. i would try to remove the stain first.

are you trying to get rid of the smell or just the stain? if your trying to get the stain out its simple.. spray something like resolve on it rub it in the carpet with a wet rag and let it sit for 5 mins. after that grab a paper towel and flatten it then place it over the sprayed area and step on the paper towel. Just keep doing this till the stain and wetness in the carpet is gone.. Now if its for the smell try getting a dish and put vinegar in it and place it next to or near the urine. Your house isnt going to smell fresh but that will get rid of that strong odor of urine.

We found that the only pet stain remover that works on our carpets is the woolite pet stain remover. And we also steam clean once per year.

Baking Soda
White Vinegar
Dishwashing Detergent
3 % Hydrogen Peroxide
wet the area with a solution of 50% white vinegar and 50% water. Make sure you use enough of the solution to penetrate the fibres deep down. Allow it to dry. You can assist drying by blotting with paper towels. A fan can also be used to assist drying. The acidity of the vinegar will neutralize the ammonia in the dog urine.

When it's dry, apply a liberal amount of baking soda over the affected area and drizzle it with a quarter of a cup of hydrogen peroxide mixed with a teaspoon of dishwashing detergent. Work it in with a scrubbing brush or your fingers (be sure to wear rubber gloves) to dissolve the baking soda and work it down into the carpet. Allow it to dry. Then vacuum. The vinegar will neutralize the ammonia and the baking soda will remove the odor of the cat urine.

I always use Spot Shot. It cleans stains and the odors.

I swear by Nature's Miracle. It is all organic and it works wonders. I usually find it in Petsmart.

All you do is spray the spot down until wet, then scrub, leave for about ten minutes, and blot up with towel.

Get one of those carpet shampooers that look like a vacuum. Thats wat I use. Either that or the pet stain and odor remover. But you've already tried that. So try the shampoo.
