It depends on what you are going to do.
If you are going to study in the same school that offers 10+2 , then you need not worry. provided, you are sure to pass and qualify for Class 11 admissions.
If you are moving to ICSE or state board, it is a different issue.
It also depends on what you are going to after std 12. if you are aiming for IIT ( JEE) or NITs (AIEEE), then you need to score well. In those cases, tution helps to grind the subject well into you.
If you are aiming for a local state college and are going to be happy with any engineering seat, you may sit back and relax. You will get a seat, if you score reasonably well. Again , if you want to get into the number 1 or 2 college of your state, you need to work hard and tutions help.
The bottom line is, if you want admission into a good college, then tutions will help. But do not forget that, it is your hardwork that matters. And that is the only one that matters - with tution or without tution. Tution is just a catalyst.
