My dog Brutis ran away on 9/23/06, and was last seen on 9/24/06. He ran away at my mom's house who lives a couple of miles away, and found his way back home and was sitting at the door. However, when we approached him he ran. We saw him again running towards our house the following day, buy were unable to catch him. He is a toy fox terrier. Sometimes mistaken for a Jack Russell or Chihuaha. He weighs about 7lbs. He is white, with black spots and brown on his face. He has a docked tail. Sounds like he is beside himself and very frightened. Dont run after him..when you see him sit and in a reincouraging voice call him patting your leg. If he looks at you go good boy and get excited to keep him looking at you. I dont understand if hes been at your house that he doesnt settle down and come to you. In the past have you disciplined him when he came to you? If so, he is not looking forward to this. I never punish my dogs no matter what they have done if they come to me. That is one of the most important commands for a dog to respect and listen too. I might grab them abruptly but let them know by saying good boy. Cant train a dog if they dont come to you and you wont catch them on the run. Dont leave food out since he is coming home but running when approached since this will just keep him doing so. If hes hungry enough he may let you approach or come to you w/a bribe of food. I dont know what else to say since I would need more info from you and I have never had a dog do this to me. Whenever a dog has run from me they are more then happy to come and see me exspecially if they know they are home. Good luck and best wishes to you.

I live in Lakewood, and my dog got away from me a couple weekends ago when we were out camping in Wellington. She managed to find a couple kids to play with and they held on to her while I made my way to their campsite. Do you have treats on hand everytime you see your dog? Make sure you are calling to him in a really high pitched fun-loving happy voice. Also try having his favorite toy on hand at all times. Did you put signs up in your neighborhood about him? Also try going door to door and letting them know about himl, that he is friendly and if they see him could they contact you. Make sure the local humane societies know what happened in case they pick him up. Hope you get him back!

Get off the computer and grab his leash and his favorite treats, look for him.Call the county animal shelter, call the shelter in Parma, ask your neighbors if they see him to call you.
Get busy. If he has his collar on and he has his tags on, you will get him back if someone picks him up(and doesn't want to keep him) contact your vet also, the rabies tag has vets number on it.Good Luck.
