MyMom always complains about houseworks. We are only 5 members of family all are gorwnup.
Recently i Joined an intesive course in a college. Today Morning she opened my bedroom door and saw me reading my note book and make some revisions. She asked me to help her with the houseworks. I told her that i could not cuz I had to study.
First point ( that i need long time to memorize things) so it takes me hours to finish a subject.
Second point that she made me feel guilty today about me rejecting helping her... so i lost my concentration and dwell in thinking about the guilt and feeling bad that i lost the motivation to continue studying...so i threw the book and get on here to find a satifying solution for this damn!
Third point that her reaction and the way she answered me after my refusing was like this....
She talked to me in a sad tone which TELLS( LEAVE what is in your hands), her face told me like she did not accept my reply.
please keep on reading the details...will write

You live in the house, you need to pull your own weight. I don't give a toss whether you're studying or not, she is not your maid.

I know how hard it is to try to concentrate on college when you live with your family. It sounds like your mom feels she's taken for granted. Whether or not it's true. It sounds like she'd like some help with things from all of you.
I took a full class load at college and worked part time while living with my family. My dad was retired and my mom had always been a stay-at-home mom. Even though it appeared my mom had loads of time on her hands to get the housework done (and believe me, organization wasn't her strong point, God bless her), she still needed help once in a while. She's asking for your help. Maybe you could set aside some time during the day to do some things you normally wouldn't, i.e. dust, vacuum, clean the bathroom, laundry. This would be a good idea for other family members, too.
I think your mom would get the message that you really do think what she does in the house matters, that you're lending a hand because it's not all her work, and that you do actually need your own time to study.
Good Luck!

Hi, I know that it is not easy going to school and having to read things over and over until you can get it but....
If you were on your own, paying bills etc. you would have to do the house work yourself. Consider that part of your rent. I figure it costs about $100/week to clean a house and if you cleaned the house 1X per week, that should cover your rent. I am not trying to be mean, I just feel for your mom and you. Look at it from this angle: your mother has already been through your stage of life, she has raised kids and if she worked full time she would possibly be up for retirement. When kids live at home after 18, moms dont get to retire, in fact even when you leave she will still be your full time mom. She shouldn't have to use a sad tone, you should just help her.
A schedule is probably best so that she knows what is going to be done and when. Maybe you could help her clean and she could quiz you? Make it fun...moms dont last forever, enjoy her while you can...she sounds like a sweet lady...and just because you are talking about it, I am sure you already have the answer...good for you to feel her emotions and even better for you going thru school. Life is not a smooth ride so the more you do now the stronger you will be.

Are your parent paying for your college?
Are you living Free in their home?
Are you eating the food they provide?
Figure out a way to do both studies and housework. It is your responsibilty to do both - since you are living under the roof your parents provide you.
Instead of spending time on your PC - get off your *** and go help your mom, you already decided that you are not going to study - so you shold pitch in.
If you are in college you are old enough to multi task and old enough to accept that your chores - including housework are part of the deal.
LOG OFF THE PC AND GO HELP MOM CLEAN UP AFTER THE MESS YOU AND YOUR SIBLINGS MADE.

you all should set of a chore chart that way you can schedule your study time and still help mom out. besides i think mom just wants you to spend more time with her. if you are all grown she's dreading the day that you will leave home. she only wants to keep her little ones close.

If there are five members of the family, and they are all "grownup", they should be helping with the housework. If I were your mom, I would stop doing it for you.
