The problem is, you can't follow or believe every part of the Bible, because it gives contradictory advice in different parts. So if you're going to believe it in the first place, you already have to have the ability to pick and choose only certain parts.

Christian will say that it doesn't matter that there are inconsistencies in the Bible, because the important thing is the overall message. The problem being that two different people can have completely different ideas about what the overall message of a text is.

This is a huge problem in Christianity. They need the Jewish Scriptures to attempt to setup the basis for Jesus (despite the fact that if you read the original, it rules out Jesus as the Messiah and goes completely against the man god theory). So first they grafted themselves into the Jewish Covenant (since Jews rejected him and they needed followers they had to figure out how to go to the gentiles). But that brought the problem of all the laws they didn't want to keep. So they said they were "fulfilled" so they didn't have to keep them. Yet if you bother to read the Scriptures it says over and over again they are eternal.

I personally know Jews would be overjoyed if they stopped using our scripture, it will doubtfully ever happen though because they wrote their book on a poor understanding of ours. They would have to go back to the beginning and redo their whole theology. Not going to happen.

I don't try to throw out any Old Testament scriptures, But the Old testament is a shadow & type of the NEW, Jesus did NOT Destroy the Old Testament, But he came to Fullfill the old Testamnet. There is still prophecies in the Old Testament that has to be fullill, Jesus fulfilled the parts concerning the Laws, He did not fulfill all, that is a prophcey for a future event, He only fulilled pophecy that pertained to Him.

Any one who changes the Bible to suit their needs are not true Christians. The Bible itself warns of these churches and people who will decieve. Another way people look at it, is that for everything God did, has done and will do, the antichrist will make a counter fit, to decieve everyone, even with in the churches. Thats why the most important thing is to read for yourself, so you can know if some one is lieing to you.
Catholic preist lead people to do things, God never intended. They gave themselves authority over God, changed the ten Commandments.

Jesus did when he said we are no longer under the law but under grace.
Romans 8:3 For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh.
1 Timothy 1:9- Knowing this that the law is not made for a righteous man but for the lawless, and disobedient, for the ungodly, and for sinners, for unholy and profane.

Some things passed away with the coming of Christ and the New Testament, and some did not.
It would take hours to examine each one but the many of the practices before Christ came were no longer necessary because of his sacrifice, and because of the coming of the Holy Spirit. The Temple curtain tore in two when he died, representing that man was now in full relationship with God, and the things like the Holy place in the Temple were no longer necessary.
It is not picking and choosing - God changed things with Christs' death and resurrection.

They quote what they like, ignore what they don't like, otherwise they misquote or change the meaning completely. Well how else can you reconcile two completely different religions? Actually I respect the Jewish religion far more than the Christian. Jews make some sense and they're way more honest (and unlike the majority of Xians the Jews are way more open-minded). ok so they murdered Jesus, well that's what their book clearly says to do, so they did it. They do what their god says (unlike those Christian hypocrites).

Many Christians like to have things their own way--only God can alter His law--which He did with the New Covenant. This doesn't mean He changed His "mind" or His teaching--the changes were made to grow with us as we have grown.

True Christians do not pick and choose. If you are going to follow some of it you must follow all of it. Otherwise you gain nothing. Some churches have introduced rituals and doctrine that are not of the scripture and when the time comes they will have to explain to God why. I, however, find all of the bible is relevant and anything that does not follow scripture is just extraneous BS.

The ceremonial sacrifices have been finished in the body of Christ.

All other laws are made even more stringent in the New Testament.
