No guessing is needed, they have tests. :) Acid reflux can be deadly, so I hope if you suspect you have it, you see a doctor. If nothing else, it's plain miserable.

There are symptoms that they look for to diagnose it. Some aren's so obvious. Chronic cough is related, also hiccups which is a milder form of heartburn. My previous doctors were always blaming my cough on smoking, and I don't smoke.
