If you live near a Regis Salon, such as Best Cuts or Super Cuts, go in and ask for So Silver shampoo. It is a little more expensive than regular shampoos but you get what you pay for...you only need to use about a quarter sized amount so it will last for a long time. It starts working immediately...you can see a difference after the first shampooing. I am a hairstylist and my mom is as well....we both sell this shampoo on a very regular basis! One tip...use it everyday for the first week or so, until you notice the yellowing is gone. After that use it every other day or so...if you notice a purple tint to your hair just cut back on your usage and it will go away. Good luck! Heather :)

I am a licensed cosmetologist, and yellowish tint is common in white/gray hair. However, there is a way to fix this without any dye. --Do NOT use HENNA! Once you use that stuff, you can't ever put any other color on your hair until it is grown out, or it will fry your hair. Go to Sally's beauty supply, or a beauty supply near you, and get a purple shampoo. The color purple counteracts yellow. It really does work. However, make sure you follow the usage directions. I know some ladies who use it every time they shampoo their hair and their hair now looks purple, (but it does wash out). Just use it like every 2-3 times you shampoo or something.

Clairol sells a shampoo called Shimmer Lights that is purple. That is what will take the yellow out. You can get it at any Sally Beauty Supply. You would use it until your hair is the shade you want, then only use it every third or fourth time you shampoo your hair.

Pantene Expressions now makes one especially for silver hair (Sterling to Snow), which brightens & removes the dull yellow tint w/o changing the color.
It's also affordable & can be found in most drug stores.

I can help you out because my dad had this problem for years, until my mom bought him Nexxus Simply SIlver Colour Toning Shampoo. It takes the yellow right out and actually brightens the hair. You can buy it through Amazon or I beleive at salons. Hope this helps.
