when the packages says sliced they are still intact in the middle? whats the point?

They might get stale quicker that way. Plus, they want you to think you are a chef.

its cause you are supposed to pull them apart gently, you end up with rough edges that get nice and brown and crispy when you toast them, yummmm the best. Wish they were available in europe but they arent :(

They would get stale faster and they stay in better shape this way.
