Createing a shortcut to your desktop is very easy, if you want that shortcut to take you to a webpage.
Simply, place your cursor on the main section of the page and not an advertisement and "Right-Click" .. Select 'Create Short-cut' from the menu that appears. You will then be informed that a shortcut has been added to your desktop.

Now, if you have document on your computer, in a folder such as My Documents Folder then highlight the name and right-click again select 'Create Shortcut' this will add a shortcut in the Folder 'My Documents' so Drag and Drop the "Shortcut' Link to your desktop.

Have fun and hope this solves the problem for you.

....... Now that I have read your additiions .......... One Question is this...Where would you want to put this desktop Shortcut?
As the way, I see it you are already veiwing the desktop... Confused ?? I am a little ... Still trying to work out what you want to do here?

OKaaaay ... You want a fast way to remove all pages your have on your desktop and be able to see the desktop ONLY.
I do that very simply by using a mouse with a scroll-wheel that can be configured to 'Jump' ... meaning a fast command such as "Minimise all Pages" .... I simply press on the wheel which is like having a third button and in a flash all pages are minimised. ... Hope this is a help.
