I don't think there have been any studies done on this - but maybe you should check into Psych 101 to find out.
Meanwhile, I know that they say it is important for students to have a healthy breakfast in the morning -- helps their brains wake up to retain information all day at school...
Let's face it your brain needs food... as for your IQ - well, much has been proven that has to do with your environment and if the IQ test they gave you fits that environment....
I love watching Northerners not even having a 20 IQ when given an IQ test meant for Southerners!!!

Reduce your IQ? or do you mean concentration levels. I find it very hard to believe it could reduce your IQ. The only thing as far as I know that could reduce your IQ is drinking beer and bumping your head too much. Eating beforehand would perhaps affect your concentration level depending on what you have eaten.

If I didn't have a little something to eat before a test I wouldn't be able to function very well. I don't know what study did or didn't say eating before a test reduces your IQ; but I know I wouldn't do well by not eating.

i really dont think that it reduces your IQ, it is suggested that you eat before you are going to take an Test or Examination in School. All i can say eat first before you take a quiz or exams.

Your IQ is a constant number. It does not fluctuate. However, eating a large meal, or eating too close to test-taking time, can lower your alertness because, as someone said, blood is being directed to your digestive system. Certain foods, like milk and turkey, can also induce sleepiness. Eating a well-balanced meal several hours before test-taking time should work for you.

the state of mind you are after eating is called "post-feeding idiocy". the blood which should go, vascularize and oxygenate your brain, goes into your stomach, in order to ease the digestion. this way, instead of heaving a well oxygenated brain, which would help you concentrate in the exam, you have a great digestion. when the brain is not well oxygenated, you feel tired and oblivious, which reduces your IQ.
