Parents should never stop helping their children (and vice versa). As to the parent's role in paying for post-secondary education, I think it depends on the parent and the child. For my part, my folks paid for living expenses during my 4 years of college (lived at home & they didn't make me pay room & board like another sibling not going to school), but I was responsible for tuition. I found this to be a perfect mix (for me) of causing me to take responsibility for my education and my future while also helping me to get by. Others may need more help or less depending on the major they're choosing (will they be able to pay back extensive loans) and depending on their maturity level (will they just be taking advantage of parents' kindness)? It's all a matter of tailoring it to the situation, as there is no obligation for parents to pay for post-secondary education.

Loving parents will want to help their children no matter their ages. If possible financially, parents should help them get a good education. However, some grown up children take advantage of their parents and want to live, eat, and sleep free instead of getting a job and becoming independent. This is when parents can help by insisting the kid grow up, get a job, and get on their own!!!

One should be careful using 'Must'. This is a delicate issue. Parents may be influenced by cultural and family background as well as by many other factors. In my country most parents help their children as long as they can and in turn children start helping their parents when they can.

I am not exactly sure what you are asking but..
I believe that if the parents are in a position to help their children, no matter the age, they should do so if the child needs the help bad enough.

Anything after adulthood is reached is purely voluntary. Good children deserve good parents.

There is no age limit. You have to help them until they stand on their own leg.
