Not all of us do, my Dear One. You've got to stop looking at our government and take a look at the People in general. We're really a nice bunch of folks. Stop in one day and we'll have tea....Blessings.

Do you feel personally bullied? Do you have some Kansas farm boy there pushing you around right now? If you are talking about the foreign policy of our government and it's relationship with your own government then I suggest you study history. All governments exert their strength on others to serve their own interests. In the case of a democratic government the interests are keeping the citizens happy enough to re-elect the current leaders. If a dictator or monarch had the economic and military strength that the USA has then the situation could be much worse. Imagine if a radical Muslim leader had the power that the USA has but didn't have to answer to the citizens... didn't have to worry about what is right and wrong. Imagine if that leader had the power to back up his desire to force you to think and behave as he believes you should. Imagine if that person could actually behead anyone that went against them... with out ever having to answer for that... Now imagine that the USA has the ability to prevent that from happening.... what would you do?

I ask that you please don't put all Americans into this notion of bullying. Perhaps it's just the ones that you've met. There are millions and millions of Americans and we are not all the same. Just like with any other nation.
If you look at world governments as a whole, all leaders use intimidation to gain control. This is history repeating itself over and over again. No one seems to have found a way to peacefully live together. We all try to influence each other's cultures. I think we should leave each other alone. Live where you want to live and visit other places to learn about them.

Generalize much?
*****************
As an American I have to say that this question is repeated over and over again on this forum. How do you feel when someone of another country generalizes everyone from your country? I have been off this continent a couple of times and have been greeted with nothing but kindness, even being an American, even being told that Europeans don't like Americans' at all.
See, unless you experience things with an open mind, you will not see things for what they are, just as how you wish to perceive them.
I wanted to wait to see what other answers were before I elaborated. There was a response that I read with cussing and rudeness in it. It makes me sad to see that people have to be the epitome of what most of us are trying to show we aren't. Most Americans are not rude, it's just the small minority of the rude ones are the loudest.

I am an American. I do not like to bully or intimidate other people. The same could be said for people from every country. Every person in the entire world is different.

Whether you mean to or not, you ARE generalizing. We do not take after our leader. 49 million people voted AGAINST President Bush, meaning we wished that he was not in charge of our country.
It is bad to generalize people because then you miss out on amazing people. Your media shows anti-American sentiments like our media shows anti-Iran or anti-Hezabollah sentiments. Remember you are not dealing with unbiased sources. It's best to meet Americans before you stereotype.

Because American culture values individualism and competition. People's self-esteem actually hinges on feeling like they're better than others, as opposed to feeling like a valuable part of a community.

If Americans were such bullies we wouldn't dole out our tax dollars to every nation w/a hand out...
I think we should go back to isolationism...then the rest of the world would be like..."Why won't America help us!"
Damned if ya do...damned if ya don't!

It empowers them and makes them feel strong and in control if they have power over another person like that. And I'm not just talking about school bullies either: there are bullies everywhere who share this common chacteristic.
