I myself have a little dog Duchson. I give her a bath in the kitchen sink too, now if I didn't clean out the sink afterwards I to would think it disgusting and dirty.

I don't see what the problem is..Any kitchen sink can be cleaned very easily after giving the dog a bath..If you already live with the dog and it sits on your lap or sleeps in your bed, whats the difference? I always used to give my little Yorkie baths in the sink, with her very own little no-slip mat-it's so much easier than trying to do it in a huge bathtub or shower..You wanna have a sore back for days? If you are really that weird about doggy germs, just disinfect the sink after using it for a dog bath...Or buy a plastic shower head with a long hose so that she can sit down and bathe the dog in the shower..

The kitchen sink is better as it is stronger and won't get scratched from the dogs claws like the bath tub could. Also if it is a little dog it would hurt your wifes back to wash it in the bath and could be more dangerous for the dog as could slip.

Just make sure you've got bleach/ anti-bac in the cuboard to clean the sink with !!

Give her the following wxplaination. I m sure that she'l understand.
Dogs have fur which consist a lot of germs as they take bath only once or twice a week. When they go for a walk they carry a lot of germs with them. And if we wash the dog in the kitchen sink, When we put away the dishes for washing, The plates gather the dirt of the bathed fresh dog and sticks to it. Even when we wash it, though on the outside, to our eyes they seem clean, The germs will enter our body and start killing certain cells and in place of them these minute insects which can't be seen to our naked eyes, will affect our health and cause severe diseases.
explain it when she is free and mention the word SEVERE if you forget it she might not listen.
Tell her a made up example such as.
a boy, one of my friend's friend's son died when his parents had gone for a week. he was 20 years old and gave a bath to his dog, Scruffy and the son was found to be of severe illnes. He only stayed with his parents for about 3 hours after they had taken him to the doctor. The doctor was interviewed on saturday, march 17, 2001. He was one of my old collage mates.
Tell her that the doctor found the reason to be as.... you know the sink thing that he gave a bath to his dog and left a few dishes in the sink for about 18 hours and then washed them immediately. He fell sick the next morning. This was also said by the boy.

There is no reason not to bath the dog in the kitchen sink. It is better for a small dog to have a small area to bath in. If you put a small dog in a tub he may try to run around and injure itself. Considering what goes down most people kitchen sinks, a little dog hair and some shampoo wont do any harm.

I think your wife is right, so long as the sink is cleaned of shampoo afterwards. It's more convenient, being at waist height, than the bath (also too big) or a handbasin (which is probably too small).

If you think about it, the shampoo is designed to clean things and so will tend to clean the sink as well.

Why dont you compramise and buy a baby bath or something like that for the dog, then she can wash it in the sink with out washing it in the sink, if that makes sense.

Do you know that the kitchen sink has more germs and bacteria than the toilet?? And that's BEFORE the dog washing thing. You don't lick your kitchen sink do you??? Then don't worry about it...{assuming the sink is cleaned after the dog bath!}

dog shouldnt be bathed too often, it takes all the dogs natural oils out and can cause dry skin and other problems.
Dogs should only be bathed when totally needed (when rolled in something smelly )
but other wise cant see a problem with using the sink so long as its cleaned after.
