No. JK Rowling has been famous for always putting her readers off into a spin. Since most are speculating that Harry would die in book 7, he probably won't. Besides, that would not be a fitting end to one of the most famous and best loved wizards in literature. I also think it wouldn't be good karma from a merchandising point of view. I mean, which kid would buy a Harry Potter action figure if he knew the character eventually dies in the story or movie?
If there will be another death in book 7, I figure it would be someone close to Harry, like Ron or Hermione, or even both. Perhaps Ginny may also end up giving her life to Harry.
We've had enough darkness from Goblet of Fire to the Half Blood Prince. Despite the rumors and speculations, I still would prefer a happier, feel-good ending. In the end, the forces of good shall always prevail.

I think that J.K. Rowling will have Harry prevail in his showdown with Voldemort, which is the point of this good vs. evil series. She has said that she will let us know what happens with the characters that survive. I think that Harry and Ginny will get back together after he defeats Voldemort and that they'll live happily ever after. She could state that he becomes an Auror and has lots of little red headed, children with bright green eyes and winning smiles and a wonderful adulthood before dying a happy old man snug in his bed. Who knows? Maybe she'll even have him reunite with his parents, Sirius and Dumbledore in heaven afterwards. That would give her worldwide audience a satisfying, happy ending for the hero of the series and still kill him off. What I _don't_ think she'll do is break people's hearts by having Harry die in the effort of killing Voldemort. That isn't necessary or sensible. Plus, she's said that she'd like to apologize to Harry for all that she's put him through already. Killing him wouldn't be a very good way to make it up to him (or us).

No I think not. Children will not like that = less books sold.
However...
I personally hope that JK Rowling will not publish the final book so that the Harry Potter series is left as a mystery, leaving many children frustrated (just imagine what their psychology will be like)...until some centuries later a questionable but unpublished draft will be found :D

Well she might because of 3 reasons:
1) She already hinted that more than one character will die.
2) After she finishes the series she doesnt want anyone else to write another sequel.
3) The prophecy hinted that Harry will die
So I think that he'll die after killing Voldy.

I think it's possible...here's why:
When Voldemort first tried to kill Harry, Lily threw herself in front of Harry and died for him. This not only saved Harry, but it did something to Voldemort. Voldemort probably would have died if it hadn't been for his hoarcruxes. Somehow, the sacrificial death caused the curse to backfire on Voldemort.
If Harry were to destroy the hoarcruxes, and then throw himself in front of someone to save him or her from Voldemort, then Harry would die, defeating Voldemort once and for all.
Would he STAY dead? I wonder, because the whole theme of the Phoenix keeps winding its way through the books. I would not be surprised, if we see Harry die, that we would also see him resurrected.

I think yes. She's mentioned that an important character dies in the last volume. She's also mentioned that after she wrote the last chapter of the last book she couldn't stop crying. Whose death would cause her to cry like that if not Harry?

No, she has said that she did not kill him off, but that she was tempted at one point to do so. I doubt if she was serious. But she did say that someone "important" dies in book seven; presumably you-know-who. After all, the prophecy said . . .
