Has anyone here ever got one false HPT, but then gone to the docs and got a positive blood test?

You're more likely to get a false negative than a false positive. If the test says you are pregnant then it's pretty certain you are pregnant. However, if you take the test VERY early on it may not be able to pick up the hormones yet. You could take a HPT a few days before your period is due, get a negative result, then get a positive result a few days or a week later.

How late is your period? If it's only a day or two late, then it might be a false negative. If you are pregnant, you produce a hormone called HCG, and that's what the HPT is checking for. The amount of HCG in a healthy pregnancy will almost double every day or two in early pregnancy, so, it's possible that if your HPT was negative and the blood test was positive, that the HPT was taken too early in the pregnancy. Hope that helps!

They are very very very unlikely to be false. They are something like 99.9% accurate. They are just as accurate as a doctors pee test. Not as accurate as a blood test obviously
