Two of my dwarf gouramis have a sore on the side of their mouth. It looks like there is something in it, it is starting to swell up but they are still able to eat. Could this be a tick?

Try adding salt for freshwater fish at a rate of one tablespoon for every five gallons. If it is a parasite, it will kill it, and if it is something else, it will prevent infecton, and speed healing. It will also prevent future problems by causing the fish to produce more slime. You should also do a large (50%) water change now, and one in a few days to clear up any water problems. Restrict your feeding until the problem clears up.

i would talk to a pet store, and see if they have had this problem or can tell you what it is instead of all the guessing.
