Was gonna give you an article from Wkipedia but sadly it was not even vaguely helpful so here goes. In these modern times majority of bio-waste is BURNED - - - - incinerated - - - a process that often includes several burnings and the ash packed into drums and further buried in a secure landfil. In other words it is illegal in most major cities in The US or A to simply 'throw' medical waste into the landfill. Certain staes are stricter than others but the ancient horror stories about syringes littering New Jersey beaches from barges dumping garbage in the Ocean are mostly passe. One of the reasons for rising health costs is the cost of incinerating bio-medical waste.

Shredded waste is then automatically transferred with a conveyor or auger to the compactor/container, if desired.
This proven autoclave design features pre and post vacuum cycles in a 100 PSIG rated pressure vessel. The control system monitors all of the major processing parameters including time, temperature and pressure to help insure that all state and federal guidelines regarding the processing of infectious medical waste are met or exceeded.
