Since Battle for Middle Earth 1 was based on the film (starting in Moria and ending at the Black Gates) the makers wanted to make the second game based on other battles in Middle Earth, such as in Dul Guldor.

they're giving you the option to play in a different place that doesn't appear in the movies.dol guldur it's a tower in mirkwood in wich sauron came again after he was defeated in the last alliance[prologue first movie],then he made himself public and went back to mordor,he missed the ol' place.
