The term half life has meaning in science, engineering and medicine. It means that the time taken for something that decays or degrades to reach half its original level. In medicine it means the time taken for a drug to reach half its original concentration usually in the blood. It is a measure of how long a drug is effective and a guide to the appropriate time interval needed between doses.
