Plaigirism is passing someone else's work off as your own. This could be either information you have copied from someone's written work, eg a text book, or sections that you have cut and pasted from the internet.
It also covers where you have not referenced, or incorrectly referenced, a source in an academic essay, for example.
It is a serious offence and depending on the extent/type of plaigirising, can lead to reduction in grades, disregarding of the entire piece of work in question, expulsion from university or even fines.

copying someone else's work and taking the credit for it as if it is your own. If you use someone elses work you must put the information in quotation marks and give the author credit or you must paraphrase the idea or concept using your own words.
There is very sophisticated software out there that teachers use, all they have to do is type in a few words or a sentence of your written paper and and the software can pull up the original text and author if it is a plagiarized paper.

Plagiarism is the practice of dishonestly claiming original authorship of material which one has not actually created, such as when a person incorporates material from someone else's work into his own work without attributing it. Within academia, plagiarism is seen as academic dishonesty, and is a serious and punishable academic offence.

Do you mean plagiarism?
That is to take another person's thoughts, writings, inventions etc and pass them off as if they are your own.
Hence when writing dissertations huge chunks of texts used to be lifted and subsumed into a student's work. However with the introduction of technology departments are now able to spot the plagiarised sections of the text.
So beware and please use a dictionary - there's no excuse for sloppy spelling.

Plagiarism is not necessarily the same as copyright infringement, which occurs when one violates copyright law.

If its Plagiarism you mean then it is using somebody else's work and claiming it as your own. the easiest way to get around it is to cite the source. eg. "I have a dream" (M.J.King, name of place or book where said, and year it was released) or you can use footnotes, but your uni should have a handbook to explain all this better than me

plagiarism is when you cite a quote or make reference to an idea from someone without acknowledging its original source. you are plagerising if you do not write down the year and author of the quote or source because it implies that have you taken somebody else's idea and using it as your own when its not your own.
