In 1783 at the siege of Calvi in Corsica, Nelson was struck in the face with a stone and lost his right eye, at a engagement in Santa Cruz he lost his right arm, not that it mattered to him, as soon as he was mended he set sail again. His death came on October 21st 1805 when a bullet shattered his shoulder and lodged in his spine. " I believe they have done it at last " he said as he died.
