So you are wondering should the artists get the royalties or the philosophers they stole their lyrics from. I give it to the philosophers.

Philosophy and Marilyn Manson....hm. That is a serious "faux pas" for philosophy. The man/"it" doesn't live by any philosophy except the "ME" philosophy.
