ok have tried most of the things you guys have suggested none of them work, well the repair one might work but to do that you need the administaters password and i'm f**ked if I can remember it so unless anybody has any other suggestions I'm going to look for the sledgehammer

I know this ounds strange but as XP does make a copy of its boot record just keep trying to start it and hopefully, I hope sooner rather than later, it should work itself out.

If it doesn't you may have to a soft repair using the Windows install disk as one of the service files may have beome damaged due to it's sudden shutdown.

In future may I suggest an anti-surge set of mains sockets which can help protoect your pc from these kind of incidents.

First thing - make sure you give it plenty of time to start. Starting in Safe Mode takes longer than normal startup and its quite normal for the screen to be blank for a minuite or two during the process.

If it still doesn't work, try booting from your Windows CD (the one that came with your computer), choose "Repair" when prompted, then at the prompt run CHKDSK C:

It sounds like a surge that probably occurred at the same time as the powercut has burnt something out inside the box. It could be many things - call in a technician to look at it.

Sounds like you have a virus. Get in-touch with PC Doctor Or Westec Network. Phone this number 01889562629 and they will put you in-touch with some one in your area. They are very good. they repair my laptop.

Ouch. That's not good. Something was fried in your circuitry. Poor little microchips. You could try reinstalling your OS

Try using a very large slegehammer or similar instrument. It may not make the computer work but I am sure it would make you feel alot better.

You need to get it checked to see if any of the hardware was damaged by the power cut.
