The present day of Israel was given to them by a Egyptian Pharao. Jerusalem was their capital.
Abraham is the original leader of Jews. However, later on two more religions were born i.e. Christians and then Islam. Islam was born in Mecca which is in present day Saudi Arabia. Just because Christ was born in Jerusalem, Christians staked their claim on it.
Romans occupied their territory and persecuted the jews.
For Christians it is Abraham, for Jews it is Avraham and for Muslims it is Ibrahim.
After the second world war, based on the ancient recorded history, Israel was marked as the country of Jews.

The earliest track of all Semitic peoples (now Jews and Arabs) can be found in lower Iraq and North East Arabia. Judaic religion is compilation of various tribes' histories and beliefs. It also absorbed beliefs of many neighboring tribes and peoples, thus such a controversary book as the Bible (Old Testament) appeared. 12 Semitic tribes joined to fight the world together, their priests elaborated a religion suiting all the tribes and they set on forward to adventures. You all know the results.

We don't exactly know. It is said that they came to the land of Canaan, but from where?
Canaan (Palestine) is not the original land of Jews. It was the original land of the Philistines (Palestinians) against whom the Jews behaved abominably.
