Hi Thushad,
If you think meta tags will help your search engine ranking I'm afraid you have been misinformed with out of date advice. They won't help you, you need to read up about 'Search Engine Optimisation' (or SEO for short).
Basic SEO isn't difficult but there is a lot of knowledge to swallow. Because this question gets asked so much here at Yahoo! Answers, I've written a basic guide to SEO which is freely available for download at http://www.adambunn.co.uk/seo-beginners.php
Sometimes you will get away with the basic knowledge in my little book and sometimes you will need a lot more help from a professional; it all depends on what market you are in.

if u want tutorials on the net then follow these sites but i prefer that u should use the book of HTML which tell u about this "meta tag" html
in my opinion use the Black Book of the html which is published by the Dreamtech publication. i hav read this book and it seems that it will make to sort out the problem of the person reading HTML

1. Find the similar site which is allready on the toplist of search engine.
2. Open it and right click, click on view source
3. Copy meta-tags
4. Open your own site and paste those meta-tags and upload it
............Wait for good days !!!
