There are a number of issues to tackle here...
(1) You need to make sure you pick the right domain name for your business. It is straight forward , but not many people know how to do this properly, to get maximum results and traffic. I have some quality information, that will help you learn about the secrets to a perfect domain name.
(2) Find yourself a HTML creator package that will help you design and build your website. This is easier than you think. Try EVRSOFT, look it up in google or yahoo, where there is a free download.
(3) You then need to drive traffic to your website, because with out the traffic, you dont have any customers, which = £0.00
This skill can be learnt very easily, for little or no outlay. Again I have information on this, but far too much to post here...
(4) Advertise, for free. Try looking here, you can profile yourself and your business to 1000s of business contacts worldwide, its FREE to register too.
If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to mail me...good luck

It's great for a new business to get on the web, but if your web site looks amaturish then people will simply go to your rival with the better web site.
Our company has got work simply because we had the better looking web site.
You web site (online) is your company, if you were to go to a meeting in rags would you expect to get the contract/sale?

First you need to evaluate why you need a website???
If you want to find customers online, a Blog will find many more than a website with low SEO, so why not start there?
Another good resource is Squidoo.com

at godaddy.com you can register your domain name for $7.95 a year. then they give you free web hosting. its great. you can just search the internet for layouts/templates to use to make your site on a program like frontpage and upload your site. its actually very easy once you get the hang of it.
