I think anything in moderation is OK. Television is a good rest and break from reality. However, it should not be used as a babysitter or a parent. The parent still needs to monitor what their kids watch and explain the difference between fantasy and reality.

TV is known as the "Idiot Box"
By that definition, you can imagine what recreation it gives to kids and adults too.

No .....all tv does is fry brains

sure there is some acceptable learning tv out there , but most is just garbage , kids should be out socailizing and playing

I'll agree with the previous post that it is ok in moderation. I've started asking my son to do things (i.e. chores, good behavior in school, cleaning up his toys, etc.) to earn his T.V. time. Then I monitor whatever it is that he's watching.
