Mania is a biochemical event in the brain when someone is bi-polar and having a episode. An addict is someone who has a cumpulsive use history with drugs or an addictive behavior (sex, shopping, etc.)

A maniac is someone who can or cant control his emotions and actions resulting in self control and behavioral problems.
An addict is someone who has experienced something and then finds it harder and harder to do without the effects of what ever it was that he /she experienced!, addictions come all shapes and sizes and people can get addicted to all most anything under the right conditions.

Addict is associated with people who are very dependent on something- like medicines,pills, clothes, it can also be with people. But a maniac usually is associated with people who are psychologically disturbed and often times involves sex.These people has the tendency to harm or harrass a someone.
