Hmm, I'm not a pro at dream interpretation, but to me it sounds like you are afraid to confront other people or situations, I say this because of your reference to running the opposite way in your dreams when faced with a tough situation. Facing your fears or confronting someone when challenged can be tough but is very possible to do. It could also mean that you are simply afraid of falling short of a goal, In this case the subway train is the goal and the falling is symbolic for you not realizing your goals. The subconscious has a very interesting way of using symbolism to make it's point. Best of luck to you and I hope this answer helps you. Good Question.

I'm sure Freud would interpret your subway as a sexual object. In Freudian symbolism, a train is always a reference to a penis (going through the tunnel is the vagina) and therefore your inability to get onto the train (subway) means that you are having some sort of sexual dysfunction.
Then again, Freud was a cocaine addict and more or less, all of his provable theories in Psychology have been disproven - so don't worry about that one!
I would say some of the others on this board have hit the nail on the head. The train (subway) is a reference to time and destination. There is something that you feel you should be doing, that you haven't done and you feel you are falling behind.
Death in a dream literally means that something is changing in your life. This could be any number of things from a relationship to a phase of life issue. If you are nearing a "landmark" birthday (21 years old, 30 years old, 40 years old, etc.) this could be a possibility. Or if you are considering moving or changing jobs or careers, this also can spark a "death dream." The death is representing something that you feel you need to change or something that is forced upon you as a change.

Death in dreams usually represents a new beginning... the end of something to a new beginning? look inside yourself .. do you have choices that you are faced with everyday yet tend to turn your back the other way instead of facing the situation right in front of you? You said it right there yourself you always run away instead of choosing to stay and confront what you are running from. You may surprise yourself if stop and face what it is... until you do your dream will continue to haunt you. The subway .. your in search for something or someone that is not there.. doors open on the subway are inviting "wait for you" like an open door .. you go to enter the doors and their no longer there.. could there possibly be someone in your life that give you false hope? a sense of support of expecting someone to be there for you and when you only to find they let you down...

Dream of you own death = losing confidence, giving up, guilt conscience
Can't get on a subway train = can't make up decision.
Fall on the tracks and get run over = give up, not brave enough.
In you case, you may be into some sort of guilt conscience and you don't have enough confidence to face. Very often, you give up. Therefore, you projected being killed or run over by a train. That could translate into difficult decision making in reality. You probably have some issues in that in real life.

Death and Dying themes can be two-fold...
the first can be a very real anxiety over the issue of death and dying...
the second can be closure of some real life event that you are not willing to accept yet.
that it's always a knife seems to suggest it's a sudden ending...or a rendering loss...something "cut" from you.
Or it can simply be a method of loss that you find particularly horrible enough to fret over.
Subway train that you can't get on...
new methode for the old theme...could be an apprehension of failure, an uneasiness about being late or some discord in your daily routine.
OR
it can simply be your mind at rest wandering into the discomforting corners of your mind and revisiting scenes that you find troubling.

Death is often a theme in dreams. Killing in this situation seems to be an obstacle that you are trying to tackle but are having a problem overcoming. The train one is that you have a goal to accomplish but when you are about to accomplish the goal you fall just short and are having trouble finding the right way to go about the goal.

The Train would represent your frustration in life, that you are not able to either reach a goal, or you seem stuck in a place/situation that you want to get out of.
Being chased (fear of death) means that there are aspects or memories in your life which you would like to escape, but it is still bothering you no matter how much you try to forget.

It means you have a fear of something. But instead of facing your fears and dealing with it, you are shutting it out at the back of your mind. It is taunting you in the form of dreams. You have to analyze and see what your fears are about.

i have the same sort of dreams...i think it might be a fear of losing control or maybe we are just really afraid of dying because then we really are not in control...at least that's what we think anyways...knives are a common thread in my dreams too...and even in life i have been afraid of that as i sleep...it might be a sexual dream...maybe someone sexually abused us when we were younger...i dont know...but i do know that you are not alone...i think it might have something to do with not feeling protected when we were young....i think for me the solution is to pray about it...i don't know if you believe in God but it might help ....i hope that we can pray away our fears...
