I had to get a complete hystorectomy June of 05 and these incessant hot flashes are kicking my A. I know that each situation is different but it's been a year and four months and they are as bad as when they started!!

My grandmother had hot flashes into her 80s. I've been on HRT for 10 years. Each time I try to go off, the hot flashes return with a vengeance. As you observed, it depends on the person. After putting up with hot flashes for three years, and after trying several "natural" remedies (which didn't work), I went on HRT. I'm quite willing to accept the very slight risk of HRT for the improved quality of life in the meantime.

Sorry to say, but no. Hot flashes usually stop on their own, but there is no reliable method to help your doctor predict when this will happen. You can get more info on hot flashes on Yahoo Health.
