My partner and i have been trying to conceive for 11 months now.
I have had 2 lots of blood tests which showed i was ovulating. My partner is now going to have a semen analysis.
What can be done if there is a problem as the doc didnt seem to think much can be done but i thought there was lots that could be done ?

they test sperm for quantity, quality. moblilty. the want the mobily to be at least 50%(not alot i thought) my partners was only 42% the doctor told us it was fine it was the fertilty doctor who told us it was a bit low, he was told not to drink, smoke etc not to wear tight fittin boxers, no hot baths etc. i think there is tabulets to increase sperm count but try the natural way first. it took us 2 years to get pregnant (the longest 2 years it seemed) and it finaly happened, we had one appoinment with the fertily doctor who told us about his sperm count andi had my own problems to. and we would have already been 2-4 weeks pregnant when we saw him. i think its because we relaxed. i know thats hard to do but its the best way good luck
p.s savin the sperm up has been proven to be rubbish the best way is to have it as often as possable because then you are not thinkin so much about it. i tried the every 3 days thing for 9 months and didnt work

My husband has a low sperm count and we have had many opinions form various fertility Drs and the general concensus is that there are no real ways to pin point why it happens (my husband has a child from a previous relationship so things have changed for him somewhere probably) and there are no sure fire ways to improve things. But, smoking is the real worse thing your partner can do so if he does you need to get him to stop. Drinking alcohol is ok as long as he's under the weekly recommendation but it's wiser to stop altogether when trying to conceive. Other stuff seems to be more of a 'it might work but maybe not' thing like loose fitting undies and taking more exercise. Athlough there is no harm in trying things the specialists we saw won't be pinned down to a positive answer on anything as they really don't have any genuine answers to how effective those kind of smaller steps can be for individual men.

You can always try looking into ivf and icsi treatments. They aren't pleasant or cheap but they are the best ways of getting preggers if any of you have a problem.

Good luck

It may seem like an old wives tale but stand on your head after intercourse. The longer you can keep the sperm inside you the better chance it will have of finding it's way. It's a fact that most sperm vacates the body within a few minutes.

If your husbands test shows that he has a low sperm count you will have to keep assuring him that everything will be ok. Some men take the results really hard as it has an effect on their manhood. Ask your doctor about certain foods that can help with the sperm. Also, does your husband smoke? This has an effect on sperm too.

Good luck and I hope we hear news about the patter of tiny feet soon.

I'm sure there is much more that can be done but i think you should see another doctor that one does'nt sound to good. There may not be a problem, my husband and i tried for a baby for almost 18 months and like you we started to think it would never happen i had kind of accepted it then two months later i fell pregnant, so try not to worry as the stress is not good for you make sure you both eat healthy and more importantly try at the right times! Good luck to you both i'm sure it will happen soon xx

well,

1/ don't stress- stress on the body can prevent anything to happen

2/ try having sex 14 days after the first day of your period - this is the ovulation period it happened over day 13 - 15 try then

3/ go to the doc and see if he can give you anything to help you get pregnant - there are thing out there

4/ after following steps 1 - 3 get into your bed and start doing the doona dance - lol

5/ if those steps fail - repeat

good luck and hope you have a bundle of joy in the up coming months

You should start by not wanting to get pregnant, just have sex everyday or every other day and don't think about getting pregnant, just have fun with your partner. Get more useful information and guides to get pregnant herehttps://tr.im/Mf9Q9
after sex-put a pillow under your butt or prop your feet up on the wall so your pelvis is tilted
eat healthy
back off caffiene
workout, even if its just a 20 minute walk a day, be active.

there are things that can be done for low sperm counts and "lazy" sperm.

Change to boxers and loose fitting close, keeping the scrotum bound up close to the body kills sperm.

Quit smoking and drinking.

Change diet to a more healthy diet with more natural foods, fruits and veggies.

Exercise.

And the best thing he can do is no masturbation and more SEX SEX SEX!
