well, keeping your name out of e-mails is a matter of your e-mail software settings... For instance, if you're using Outlook, than somewhere inside the settings (account settings) you've told Outlook what your name is... You can easily change this to another name or leave it blank... I'm not sure what you mean by "other public info"

You have an option to change name/display of name in all free web based emails. Click on options, and then take it from there.

If you get spam then click on the "Unsubscribe" link.
