I dont know anything about his death but its a great loss to us all. He was one of the best authors to have ever written and i know that he will be missed.

this is the front page from his official site, its undergoing a big redesign at the mo but it says;

David Gemmell fantasy author of such books as Legend and Waylander died aged 57 on Friday 28th July, 2006.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and family.

Yes, and it happened so suddenly while he was in hospital after a heart operation. He will be sadly missed, but luckily we have his books always. My favourites will always be the Jerusalem Man series which I have read many times and of which I never tire.

I was as shocked as you. He was a fine writer whose books gave me a sence of being there. Go to his official website and sign the book of condolences as it will be given to his family.

He was 57. He had undergone a heart surgery but was unable to make a full recovery and died.
