Probably not, bullet trains have been in use in Japan for many years and have not replaced air travel as the preferred mode of travel so far.(praying for your niece everyday)

no, because, then they would have to build tracks all over the U.S., while in plane you can just fly straight to your destination, if you wanted to, over mountains, rivers, lakes. cities, etc...with a bullet train, you would have to build more tracks, make tunnels in montains, or go around them, build bridges over lakes., etc... planes are a lot more effective, and will never be replaced with the bullet train, even if the train was 2,3, or even 5 times faster than planes. it would just cost too much, and the earth would look a lot worse with all those tracks everywhere.
