well here's my story i've been thinking about going to a temp agency to find a job because i've read a little bit about them and i'm the type to get bored with a job i've been at for a lengthy period of time. here's my problem i don't have much experience with anything i've mainly worked in restaurants or retail stores and i want to do something different, i mean a know how to operate a computer and send e-mail, use all the microsoft office applications etc. Since i don't have much experience what kind of jobs will they offer me? and also since i don't have much experience will it take a long time for them to find me a job?

It depends on the area you are willing to work in and the number of jobs the agency has available. They are a great way to get income and try out different jobs. The trick to keeping them calling is to accept (cheerfully) the first job they call you with and show up on time and perform well. Once they know you are willing and a good worker you can kinda move up the chain to better jobs.
Some jobs may only last a day, and some may last several weeks. Also, they have some temp-to-hire jobs. The jobs can be office or labor type jobs. Make sure that you let them know any type of job you would definitely NOT take, so they don't waste their time as well as yours.
If you take a job and don't show up, you cost the agency credibility with the customer, and sometimes they can even lose the account because of workers not showing. Be considerate and honest.
Above all, treat the agency and the companies you go to in a professional manner. YOu never know when a permanent opportunity can come up. Good luck!

Go for it. It sounds like a great fit for you with your skills. I worked temp, summers while I was in college, it was fun and interesting, I am like you and liked the change of pace. Just go to a few agencies. taking their typing and microsoft office tests so they know you are qualified.

You will probably get office jobs to fill in when someone is on vacation or sick leave or maternity leave. I had a job the next monday after I signed up. And I had no office experience either. (and 20 years ago no computer skills, but the gal at the temp office liked the look of me, I was neatly dressed and polite.)

My advice, wear conservative clothes to the temp agency. Be prepared to fill out a job application there, including references names and phone numbers. Make sure if they call you for a job, that you show up on time and ready to work. Most of all just have fun with it.

If you get in a place you absolutely Hate, be professional, quietly call your contact at the agency, tell her the situation, tell her you won't be back the next day and why, give her a chance to find a replacement, and competently finish out the day. She will appreciate your attitude and should continue to place you.

Temp agencies are paid with the help of the business enterprise which you are going to be working at, that's why the business enterprise keeps calling. There are stable/undesirable factors with temp agencies as i've got used them in getting a job that began with me being a temp worker. then being employed finished time. or only to get some greater funds whilst i wanted something. A temp business enterprise can furnish you a style of diverse jobs, some that could grow to be finished time employment or that could basically final from an afternoon to quite a few months. The down facet of those agencies is there is not any scientific, dental, etc. reward as those are basically given to the finished time worker of that business enterprise. There are some agencies which penalize you financially in case you do not provide a weeks be attentive to leaving that activity. and in many situations, temp jobs pay a miles less because of the fact the business enterprise isn't basically paying your salary with the help of making use of the temp business enterprise, in addition they could pay the temp business enterprise on your centers. wish this helps.

You would have to start out with the application and testing process. After you've completed that, the company you've selected will go through your options with you.
The most amazing thing about selecting this avenue is that you can often train on programs you might not otherwise have access to for free because the more skills you have, the more marketable you are for the company and the more jobs they can send you on.
It is a great way to try new things and possibly even find a career path that suits you.

in my experience and opinion agencies are a rip off, they'll advertise jobs that don't exist just to get you on their books. then after you tell them what sort of job your looking for you'll get a phone call at 8 in the morning offering you a days work 30 miles from town stacking shelves. turn them down they'll take you off the books. but it is a very weak job market at the minute and they are a neccesary evil only if they come through with the goods. it is a gamble that may pay off.

They have anything from Wherehouse work to data entry to pepsi bottling jobs. When you sign up you can pick from categories and take a test to see how well you are in that field, if you're not that hot, you can always go back and try another one. Then just keep your phone on and wait for jobs to come to you. It's simple. Peace.

They have all kinds of jobs to offer. They just need your qualifications. Just go and talk to them and see what they have to offer. I have used a temp agency.

Stick with your job until you find another. Avoid the temp agency. One thing I've learned with them is job security. It doesn't exist no matter how good you maybe at the job you've been placed.
