Well, it´s 186 not-out against New-Zealand, at Hyderabad, in year 1999 (2nd November). He hit 20 fours & 3 sixes in a partnership 0f 331 runs with Rahul Dravid. Dravid was eventually out after making 153 on 153 balls (4x15, 6x2), but Tendulkar carried-on and made 186* (not-out) on 152 balls. Both started from 10 runs for the loss of 1 wicket and stayed-on till the 48th over. By the time Dravid´s wicket fall the team-total was 341. India made 376/2, by the time it was the 2nd highest total ever made by a team. And 186* from Tendulkar was also the 4th highest individual score (at that time).
Tendulkar was looking good to break the record of 196 which was set by Saeed Anwar, but, Ajay Jadeja came in and wasted few deliveries in the end, which made the chances of it very bleak.
