on a recent trip to France I saw several small 2 seater diesel engine cars which where quite stylish. I didn't recognised the manufacturers badge but the model number started with a 3 and then several letters. It would make an ideal city car, does anybody know what make of car this would be and are they available in Britian.

It was probably a BMW. Almost every major manufacture has a diesel engine optional in their cars that they sell in Europe. I know the Euro-spec BMW 3-Series has an optiona; diesel. So does Mercedes-Benz, Opel (A GM division), Volkswagen, Audi, Vauxhall, Renault, Citroen, and others. I know these aren't avaliable in the US, but I don't know about Britian.

Yazukka is right.. But Ford is coming out with a new diesel 2 seater that is turbo charged. It goes 0 to 60 in about 6 second but gets 40mpg city and 60...Yes 60 mpg highway. And has Gull wing door like a Lamborgini. I saw an artical about it in Popular mechanics. Can't wait till they start to produce it. I don't like Fords much but this was a bad *** looking car and the perfomance an gas milage claims can't be ignored
