looking on the diskettes capability, it should store about 1.44Mb of information. however, this is not so... the normal full load capacity of a diskette is only about 1.38 Mb... the rest space is allotted for the system to boot up the diskette itself, embedded in it using some space itself. thus, the resaon that only about 1.38 Mb of data can be stored.
remember, any periphernalia used to store data allows about 6 Mb or more space for it's own system to boot up. it uses some space in the device thus lessening the space allotted for data...

Hmm I thought they held 8mb of data but these days you would be better off with a USB stick, can get them to hold up to 1Gb of data!

on old 3.5" can store 1.44mb, the even older ones stored 720k but they are not used anymore, if you bought one in a shopit would be 1.44mb

if you mean a floppy disk that you would insert in your standard floppy drive, that would be 1.44MB
