Nope, x = 2

Original:
10/x = 5

Now multiply both sides by x to get it out of the denominator:
x * 10/x = 5 * x
10 = 5x

Divide both sides by 5 to isolate the x:
2 = x

Reverse to get your answer:
x = 2

You can always check your answer by substituting it back into the question:

10 / (2) = 5?
5 = 5 check!

Notice how your answer (50) doesn't work:
10 / (50) = 5?
1/5 = 5? nope...

So the correct answer is x = 2.

on the left side10is divided by x. you're trying to get x to the top. to do this you multiply by x. you must multiply both sides by x, or else you'll break the equality

on the left you will have (10/x)x so the x's cancel out and you have just 10

on the right, you will have 5 x

so you have
10 = 5x

so, 5 times x is 10. So you divide by 5 on both sides. So 1 x is worth 2

no need to panic, just go one step at a time. and if this is the level of class homework, and you just don't get it, you should tell your teacher this, and seek help. If you don't seek help now, to make sure you understand the basics, it'll only get worse as the year progresses

given 10/x=5
crossmultiplying 10=5x
since the coefficient of x is 5 on right hand side divide both sides by 5 we get,
10/5=5x/5
2=x
therefore the value of x=2 it is not 50

What to divide 10 by to get 5? The answer is 2.

If the concept of "division" is too abstract, think like this: how many of my friends will get apples if I want to give them my 10 apples so that each gets 5.

If you want to solve that algebraic, multiply both sides of the equasion by x, getting:
10 = 5x
now divide both sides by 5, getting:
10/5 = x
which gives
2 = x
which in turn means
x = 2

if x = 50 10 /50 =0.2
x=2 10/2 = 5
/ i equivelent to the divide sign
