PC

Mainframes are the most expensive due to the high spec required of them, laptops are mid range and desktop pcs are now getting cheaper every month. Gone are the days of PC's costing in excess of £1000's now they're readily availble for £200-300.

<>A mainframe will be the most expensive, by far. That is a large computer for running a a computer intensive business or multiple servers and could cost thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars. You would not use a mainframe at home (unless you are launching nuclear missiles from your bedroom !:) Laptops are generally more expensive than desktops, depending on features.

under normal circumstances the arrangement in increasing order of cost is
PC < Laptop << Mainframe
A mainframe would be way more expensive than what a person can pay out of his/her pocket
A laptop would be much lesser, but if you are looking at most modern laptops, they would cost more than the PCs
In today's market, a PC is something that has become affordable even when you include peripherals like DVD drives etc!
